What Things Would You Not Have Done As A JW That You Would Do Now?
by minimus inas witnesses, we were very concerned that we might offend somebody's conscience and our actions reflected that.
if someone might've been "stumbled" by our actions or speech, we would make sure we would do everything possible to not upset another fellow brother or sister.. i would not have gone to an "r" rated movie.
now, i go to any rated or unrated movie because i don't give a sh*t what smeone might feel over my choice.. what things are you free to do without worrying that someone might be disturbed over it?

I assume when you are talking about "graduation" you mean graduation from high school (ie secondary school) and not university - because no half way decent JW is ever going to find themselves graduating from any university!!!!
My parents always gave us presents at "surprise" times through the year - but then they were (and still are!!) very unique in having their own principles that had s*d all to do with the WT rules.
Even when my dad was an elder (and congregation secretary) he would threaten other elders verbally when they were basically bullying vulnerable brothers and sisters in the congregation. I have known him on one occasion to threaten to take another elder outside the kingdom hall and lay into him (verbally of course!!) because of the appalling way one particular elder was treating someone. Go dad!
But back to the topic in question....aside from anniversaries and weddings, the other time that JWs tend to give cards and presents is at baptism time.

evidence of angelic direction
by tank ini just came across this on the official watchtover web site www.watchtower.org/ .
quote.
jehovah's witnesses spend more than a billion hours annually preaching the good news of god's kingdom.

When my daughter was a baby she was very ill and the hospital said she needed urgent treatment that may have to involve a blood transfusion, although they said they would start without and see how things went.
We refused to consent to blood - the treatment was started, my daughter pulled through.
The general consensus in the congregation at the time was that it was obviously because of jehovah's blessing that she pulled through without the need for blood.
I believed it...................for a while.................... and then started thinking.
If it was jehovah's intervention that prevented the need for my daughter to need blood on that occasion, what made him withold his blessing from all those children who died and whose pictures were on the front of the May 98(?) Awake? What had they done to prevent them also having jehovah's blessing?
If jehovah is that "involved" in certain people's lives could he not step up his game, and actually start preventing some of the illnesses/accidents that occur that lead people to be sitting in intensive care needing treatment in the first place?
It is all a big con, and is all down to sods law as to whether you are (a) ever in a position to need treatment and (b) whether the treatment will involved blood and (c) whether the treatment is as effective as the medical team hope.
It is the same deal with JWs not being shot in a certain situation when the next person may be. It is all down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or the right place at the right time.
and if there is a god and he happens to be listening, then see this is as a challenge to up your game and improve your standards of success. If you would be so kind.
Just my thoughts.

HELP ! UK - new law to allow one person to refuse blood for another
by Enjoying freedom inmental capacity act 2005. does anyone know if the wtbts are doing anything about the new provision within the mental capacity act for a person to authorise another to make healthcare decisions?.
this is a completely new concept for those of us in england, wales and northern ireland.. until now (well 1 october!
) an enduring power of attorney would only allow an attorney to be appointed to make decisions about finance.. under the new lasting power of attorney (mental capacity act 2005 s9) the donor (aged over 18 years) can appoint an attorney to make personal welfare decisions (ie healthcare decisions) on their behalf if they lose capacity to make the decision for themselves.

I can see why something like this would make sense for an individual to set up if they have a degenerative illness that they know will result in them losing capacity and unable to make their own decisions.
But not so that one JW can refuse blood on behalf of another, when, in a lot of cases, the patient would survive the injury/operation and lead a normal life otherwise.
Again, each person has the right to choose. But how much real CHOICE does the average JW have when they are in a hospital bed, sick, and surrounded by JW family, friends and the Hospital Liaison Committee all using subtle but significant pressure on that individual to refuse blood?
This is not patient choice, this is bullying by any other name.
This is the situation that desperately needs to be avoided.

What do they think is going to stop him attacking anyone else now?
But aside from the light sentence passed by the court there is nothing to prevent the religion removing his privileges. All of them - literal and physical.

That sort of rubbish makes me so angry!
A couple of years ago there was an Awake article praising the work of nurses.
How do they think that an individual gets to become a good qualified nurse? By going on the ministry? Cleaning the KH? I think not!
Did all the members of their Legal Services Committee obtain their qualifications by attending the theocratic ministry school??
(Where do the GB think they would be without qualified lawyers with no morals???!!!)
Hyprocrites the lot of them!

They lied-BIG TIME, do they have a conscious?
by Junction-Guy infolks i know what it was like to be raised in this religion, but i never knew what it was like to be a convert.
lately i have come in contact with some jw's, they know nothing about my background.
i have asked them so very tricky questions, and they have flat out bare faced lied.

The GB don't have a conscience. They are clearly hungry for as much money, power and control over people as they can possibly get away with.
Their power and tyranny remains all the while the majority of JWs continue to obey without question.
